ZANDER (sander lucioperca) FROM MIEKOJÄRVI IN ARCTIC CIRCLE IN TORNE RIVER VALLEY
The world’s northernmost naturally reproducing population of zander is in Lake Miekojärvi. The zander is known for its tasty taste, which originates from clean water and the salmonid vendace that is the main food of the zander. Also lake shrimp is zander delicacy in lake Miekojärvi.
We aim to keep zander in our range all year round. It is caught with traps, nets, trolling and jigging.
Zander is a versatile fish for cooks and easy to catch without a rod. It is excellent in the frying pan, but is also very good boiled, steamed, baked, grilled, gravad, smoked and as sushi fish.
